A Traditional Southern Christmas Home Tour
Today we are touring the home of John and Deb, who we have known for almost 20 years... which makes me feel kind of old for saying, but it's true. Good friends are worth keeping a long time, especially if one of them is a Cordon Bleu trained chef, though he being a voice actor is pretty cool. (They are also exceptionally kind and wonderful!)
Deb was so sweet to invite me over and give me the grand tour. She wanted to capture her house decked out for the holidays and then was kind enough to let me share her Traditional Southern Christmas with you guys! (Wait until you see the nod to a Cowboy Christmas in the basement!)
Here is what Deb said about her Christmas decorations:
"Since we both have the privilege of working out of our home, we tend to keep our lives and home cozy, simple, and comfortable, conducive to our lifestyle. But at Christmas, since I'm a chef, our home is a natural gathering place for friends and family. I tend to go all out on the Christmas decor. We love the festive feel of a home that has a little something Christmasy everywhere you look. "
I love that! If anyone in the Atlanta area would like to book a Christmas photo session, we still have a few last minute slots that have come available. Just send me a message!
Are you ready to take a peek?
Let's start in the family room where Deb brings in designers from a local shop called Acorn, which happens to be renowned in the area for outrageous and over the top Southern Christmas decor...
Now over to the Breakfast Room where Deb takes over the decorating... I love the adorable countdown to Christmas chalkboard... a great DIY idea!
Have you noticed yet that Deb loves to collect Santas? Anyone counting... you might want to start now!
Every Traditional Southern Christmas home demands a creepy doll or two. No. I'm being totally serious. My mom has a collection of elves that I have made her promise to put away before I come over. CREEPY but a necessary evil if you are keeping up with the times...
Every good holiday home needs mood music and Deb hit my happy place with Michael Buble on the Bose. (Amazon is offering a one month trial of their Prime account which includes overnight shipping. Kid you not. Ordered yesterday at 10pm and everything was delivered by 8pm today. Just mentioning in case I'm not the only one who suddenly needs a Buble fix... or a few other last minute gifts!)
Next we are on the way to the Dining Room..
And now to the Library/Sitting Room... Is anyone else craving a Santa collection yet?
And now, as if all those rooms were not amazing enough, let's check out the pale blue master. I love the garland over the headboard, the red pillows and throw, and the adorable Christmas pillow. It's amazing how a few well placed items can make a room feel so festive!
Upstairs is the Willyard's granddaughter's room who just had a mini tween makeover done on her room. The dahlias decals are so cute! And the white leather pouf is one that Deb bought with me when she visited us in Morocco. So fun! And now just a little peek into the Cowboy Christmas basement... a little nod to the Willyards days many moons ago in Texas... I think I need the Beware of Pickpockets and Loose Women sign. Hilarious!
We hope you enjoyed the tour today! Did you see anything that inspired your upcoming festivities?
