Oh. Geez. Clean up on Aisle Four... They're Christmas Crazy.
I would prefer to tell you that we are extremely mature adults who cannot be influenced by the presence of adorable holiday Ritz crackers (because they taste better when they are shaped like snowflakes.) ... or peppermint flavored Oreos (because a stripe of red down the center equals awesomeness!) ... or Gingerbread Lattes. (Clearly no explanation is needed for that one!) But I can't tell you that we are normal or advocates of Skipping Christmas.
Because we aren't those people.
We are the crazy ones purusuing the Christmas section of Target while getting awkward side glances from the employees that clearly say, "Seriously?? Can't you see the bright red do not enter tape wrapped around this section?" You'll find us in Costco sizing up trees and speeding at a breakneck speed towards the toy aisle like two giddy kids. We've got our fingers hovering over the Christmas music button in July and more Christmas decorations to our name than we do practical items... like every day plates and bedding.
The truth is that Jack and I are probably the least mature members of our entire family. Our eight year old can stare down a special Starbucks Christmas ornament... and that cute red cup... but not us. No Siree Bob. We dive in. Mind, body, and soul... they all go in when Christmas time rolls around.
Last year we went a little Christmas Crazy and decorated every single room in our house. Hailey's bedroom. The boys' bedroom. Our bedroom. (We tried to pretend like we were tired of Christmas in our own room... but hopefully you didn't buy it. It got Christmasized just like the living room did!)
We just can't help it! We love the experience of Christmas, the music, the festivities, the food, the gift giving, the decorating... the whole shebang.
Sadly, though, we have always been on a bit of a budget... And creating a completely awesome holiday home takes money. We DIY a lot and then we have a few go-to affordable sources, which include IKEA and now that we are in the US, CB2. They call it the Merry and Modern collection.
We call it Merry and In. My. Cart.
Take a peek at their holiday catalog and see if you don't feel a big of merry coming on!
