Glamorous Christmas Story Board
Are you good at keeping secrets? I hope so because my boys have no idea what I am working on and I cannot wait to surprise them! Since we are all besties here, let's pinky swear that our lips are sealed because I am busting at the seams to share my little secret Christmas project that I am working on with you! I will be sharing the step-by-step process I use to create a truly magical Christmas bedroom for my boys!
Part One:: The Story Board
The holidays are so special and, for many of us, the most memorable few days and weeks of the the entire year. Every year I decorate my kids' rooms for Christmas because it gives me a unique opportunity to cater to their personalities and create a little magic that nearly guarantees that the sweetest visions of sugar plums will be dancing in their heads. My 10 year old son, Parker, loves to dress in collared shirts, bow ties, and generally prefers upscale interiors and can't decide it he wants to be an architect or a pilot (I'm pleading the fifth on his tastes!) Landon, who is seven, is a bit more rough and tumble, very playful, loves wildlife and the outdoors, and he shares his brother's affection for the bow tie. His favorite colors right now are green and gold.
As I thought through my design for their room I felt it was easiest to create a story board, so I would have a visual for my ideas and a way of keeping my design choices on track.
I began collecting thoughts, ideas, and pieces to make a Boys' Glamorous Christmas Story Board, which you can easily replicate for your own holiday decorating. I envision the boys' room to be a little bit traditional with modern and graphic patterns while also having an underlying feeling of comfort with plaids and winter wildlife, but your decor might be filled with shabby chic wood, bold citrus hues, or royal blue. Let your imagination run free and remember to consider texture, shape, theme, and finishes.
I hope I have inspired you to get started thinking about the approaching holidays. Next up for the boys room:: Budget Friendly DIY projects! (So there is plenty of money left over for Christmas gifts!)
