French Normandy Style Home in Atlanta

French Normandy in Atlanta | House of Valentina

This week has flown by but I am so relieved to report that I am nearly done with my real estate course.  I have a whole new respect for anyone who has their real estate license!  If the final test is anything like the course, then it is a massive exam!  I'll need to study through the weekend and through most of next week, but somehow seeing the light at the end of the tunnel has given me the push I need to keep going.

In the midst of studying financing and mortgages, I took a mini study break and was enjoying a little house hunting.  (Clearly I am a woman of singular interests!)  I stumbled upon this incredible French Normandy style home in Atlanta, or more specifically, in the quiet, leafy, and highly coveted Peachtree Heights West neighborhood.  Designed by Architect Duane Stone for his mother, interior designer, Peggy Stone, who was known for saying, "I admit that I am a little obsessed.  I love France, all things French."

The details throughout this home are almost enough to convince you that you are somewhere in France, but it is definitely the patio and parterre garden, though, that will have you swearing it.

With five bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms and 5,316 sq ft (493 sq meters), this home has plenty of space to inspire and pamper you.  (I have included a few photos from the current listing and a few from when Peggy Stone designed it for Veranda Magazine.

At a lean $2.8 million, it might be cheaper to just move to Normandy, but, hey, this is definitely closer to my family!

Did you enjoy the tour?  What was your favorite part/room?  Aren't the kitchen, the panelling in the study, and the wood beams so beautiful?  I definitely want a parterre garden like this one.  It may feel overwhelming to see something so big, but it wouldn't be hard to lay down a stone path and create an ivy covered archway even in a smaller yard!
