Does Every Man Secretly Dream In Pink?

3ddfe1512dec40328352eb4d6809e533 Do men harbor suppressed desires to fill their their lives with pink?  That is the question I was left wondering after a long winters quarrel with my husband who's lack of response first hurt my feelings, but later caught my attention.  I had added blush pink to the room and he hadn't bucked it.  His poor mom is probably more convinced then ever that he's gay and my mom will be assuring me the next time we talk that it's a sign that I'm lucky.  Either way, it's interesting to consider whether boys are born with an affection for pink and have we simply programmed them to dislike it?

At a wedding once, which I will neither deny or confirm whether I was attending or photographing, the groom was "made" to wear pink.  Some not-so-discreet guests could be heard whispering loudly that he "was already whipped" (and that wasn't just the guys talking.)

Why can't pink be for us all, both in the wardrobe and anywhere else it wants to land in the house?

Having once suggested that pink interiors were way too sweet and off for me, I would like to contradict myself, as is my womanly prerogative (yet another idea that has likely been hot wired into our brains), and propose that pink can be a neutral for any room.  And not in a "gender neutral" kind of way, but simply a neutral, just as black, grey, and beige might be.

Just like in any outfit, whether for a male or a female, the key is to keep it balanced with something modern and even something a bit edgy.  If you are worried about having too much pink, resist mimicking the latest remodel for Victoria Secret's Pink collection.  (Though I doubt HE will be complaining one bit if you want to add anything from that shop!)

Instead, consider using pink sparingly, adding it in with a pillow, a bouquet of blush colored roses, or even a less intrusive throw.  You might even just toss your favorite pink blazer (or HIS) over the back of a chair or hang it on the back of your door to add just a bit of neutral softness that will leave you both feeling creative and calm.

Pink can be sexy, strong, and irresistible... for him and for her, so why not give it a try in your closet, your home, and his?
